Staving Away the Sadness

From the Back of the Book:
Staving Away the Sadness is emotionally raw and unchecked in some places, controlled but intense in others. Love, hate, fear, darkness all can be found in these pages, but as you read you get a sense of wisdom not found in most people my age. I write this book for the most part to help people, to show them that they are not alone in their struggles with internal torment and pain. I offer this as a beacon of light to those who need to know that it is okay to feel these feelings, but don't let them destroy you. Instead, let them make you stronger. Let my words guide you somehow towards a better understanding of your feelings, because once you understand a problem you are better able to fix it. Know truly that no matter how bleak it seems, you are not alone, and neither am I.
Here are some of my favorite poems from "Staving Away the Sadness."
Enjoy!
Plain, White Room - 02/02
Technicolor red.
Forsake, abandon, refuse.
A plain, white room.
One chair, one small table.
Two small windows.
White curtains.
The wind blows through the room.
Musses the hair.
Plays along the clothes.
Eyelid twitches.
Virginal floor, white carpet, stained red.
The wind stops blowing
The curtains don't move.
Love is...
Forsake, abandon, refuse.
Technicolor red.
Broken Watches - 11/98
It's eleven fifty-six on my broken watch
It's the twenty-second day of some month
Time is standing still.
Nothing's going fast
My life is ebbing away
No time to waste or things to do
The clock will not move
Dead men tell no tales
Broken Watches keep no time
Antagonistic prick in my life
Hate this and want him to die
No time at this time, none ever
I'm stuck in an 11:56 world
No time to waste or things to do
The clock will not move
Dead men tell no tales
Broken Watches keep no time
Am I dead? Am I alive?
Do I care about anything?
Do I love anyone?
No time to answer
No time to waste or things to do
The clock will not move
Dead men tell no tales
Broken Watches keep no time
