Cross of Thorns by Azriel Johnson

The cross with thorns dig into my back.

I writhe in pain, and scream silently.

You dont see it do you?

You dont see my anguish.

You dont see that I would do anything for you.

To save you, to guide you, to make you a better person.

I'll lead you as far as I can,

Then when its your time to leave,

I'll let you go.

As you all go.

As you all go.

The weight of the world is on me,

The pain of others I feel.

Part of me craves it, as I have no other purpose.

Part of me loathes it, as why should I be so selfish.

To base my existence on how much I'm worth to others,

Why should I be so selfish, why should I have so much importance?

The happiness of others is only second, but my selfish service prevails.

If my life is only measure by those I help, then my life means nothing,

Because in the end, you dont really want my help.

And I bear this cross of thorns,

The weight of the world,

For nothing.
